Love him or hate him, there’s no denying that Kanye West is a pop culture superstar with widespread influence on the different areas of our culture. The polarizing star pops up in the world of music, fashion, and even (we’re not joking) politics; he is a force to be reckoned with. One of the things that Kanye has always been known for is his sense of fashion. When you are followed by the paparazzi everywhere you go, it only makes sense that you’d want to look your best at all times.
On many occasions, the music icon has been seen wearing fur. He’s worn everything from the classic mink coat and fur-lined jackets to things like shearling vests and fur capes. Recently, he was even spotted dressing his daughter, North, in a stylish full length (for a toddler) coat! It’s only natural that when creating his own fashion brand, Kanye would want to incorporate his favorite material.
At first glance, the collection (entitled Yeezy after his latest album) seems a tad…eccentric. It’s filled with torn-up long sleeve shirts, ratty sweatshirts, and sloppy looking sweatpants. However, it captures the look perfectly, as everything in the collection looks exactly like something the singer would wear! The most eye-catching part of the collection, however, is the many fur and shearling items scattered throughout.
At the reveal show, a model wowed the crowd when they came out in a stunning and shiny winter coat that featured a full furry collar. Later on, another model turned heads when he wore a pitch-black, collarless shearling fur coat paired with baggy sweatpants. The most peculiar (yet charming) item in the Yeezy collection is a shearling jacket that only runs half length. However, instead of including matching short sleeves as most jackets of this variety do, the garment had long sleeves that fringed out into a funnel pattern that could be folded back to make shearling cuffs. Say what you will about the man, but he definitely is innovative!
